Jaundice is a condition in which the skin of the body, the whites of the eyes, and the lower part of the tongue turn yellow. We will now discuss the symptoms and prevention of jaundice.
The normal serum bilirubin level in our body is between 0.3 to 1.0 mg/dL. Clinical jaundice is evident when serum bilirubin level is more than 3 mg/dL.
How jaundice occurs -
The location of the gallbladder is in the liver. If the bile secreted from the gallbladder does not come out and enter the intestine for some reason and when the bile is mixed with the blood then the eyes, hands, feet, nails of the hands and feet, the whole body turns yellow. This condition is called jaundice.
Types of Jaundice-
1. Haemolytic Jaundice
2. Hepatocellular Jaundice
3. Obstructive Jaundice
Symptoms of jaundice-
First, the body and urine, and then the sweat are also yellow. The stool is also high-colored. Due to hepatocellular failure there may be hemorrhagic manifestation also. Nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, fever with chill, and rigor may be present before the appearance of jaundice. There is constipation. The stool smells bad when the stomach is bloated with gas. Itching on the skin is especially seen in long-lasting cases. Insomnia and weakness are especially noticeable during this time. The pulse is slow. Even the pulse is seen to be 30 to 40 beats per minute.
Treatment and Prevention of Jaundice -
1. Complete rest in bed.
2.Drink plenty of water, especially glucose.
3.The patient should be allowed to eat easily digestible food.
4.Fatty foods should be avoided. Junk food, fast food, milk tea should be avoided. Red meat should be omitted.
5.Always drink pure water. It is best to drink boiled water.
6.The patient's bowel movement should be carefully cleaned so that under no circumstances do these contaminants mix with food or water.
